March 3rd, 2010

Click Here to consider Asian Itineraries’ 3 levels of travel packages

Having previously given details of times and costs of the ferry services from Sanur, Bali to Lembongan Island, I thought it was probably timely to give an update. Having returned from Sanur in February 2010, I noted the ferry times and prices as follows.

It one of those things you always know you should do, but usually you don’t end up worrying about! At home, having an extra card is just an invitation for trouble, but once you are in a foreign land, things are very different. Let me tell you about the last time I went overseas without a backup card!

A few days ago, I reviewed our recent stay at Parigata Villas Resort, in Sanur, Bali. I gave a description of the Villa we stayed in, as well as the facilities associated with the villa - in particular the private pool and courtyard that is attached to each Villa.

This post, was to give some more details on the overall resort, and facilities, and services.

Parigata Villas Resort - Sanur, Bali

We recently stayed at the Parigata Villas Resort, that are located at 99 Duyung St, Sanur. As usual, I will give my genuine, honest opinion of the resort and its facilities, as well as a few photos.

First issue with this resort, is finding details of it on the Internet. As the company that operates the resort has 2 other locations, with very similar names, it is difficult to know exactly which of their resorts you are looking at, prior to booking. This is the same for getting to the resort, as it causes some confusion to Taxi drivers! More about the company and its 3 resorts later!

Looks like its all over for IndoJet, and any prospects of their unfortunate customers to get any money back. Below is a letter from the company to customers -

22 January 2010Dear CustomerAdministration of Indojet Asia Pty Ltd (ACN 126347706)

As of 20 January 2010, the directors of Indojet Asia Pty Ltd (”the company”) have moved for a resolution to put the company into administration. As you are aware, this has been brought about by a series of unfortunate events.

As such, the directors have requested the company’s accountants and solicitors to appoint an administrator. We believe that the administrator will be appointed in the next few days. The administrator will be in touch with you with respect to outstanding debts owed to you by the company.

If you require any further information, we request that you be patient and await the administration notice to you.

Yours faithfully

Ko Ngai Island in Thailand’s Andaman Sea

January 26th, 2010

Ko Ngai is a small island, in the South Andaman Sea, south from Ko Lanta. The island has only the 1 main beach area, which is wonderfully located on the mainland side of the island. This creates an area very sheltered from the sea, and weather coming from the west. A reef offshore created almost lagoon like conditions off the beach.

Get the best hotel rate in Phuket, Thailand

Being a regular vistor to Phuket, and other parts of South East Asia, I like to research the different methods to get the best hotel rates. I have found, for Phuket, and in particular, Patong Beach, a thorough search of internet booking sites is the best and most effective way to go. (forget walk in rates, and travel agents!)

And, in my experiance,. the best way to check internet rates, is through a comparision site. To this extent, I always use, and recommend HotelsCombined

They compare nearly 40 different room bookers, as well as most of the major hotel groups sites, to find you the best rate. Definately consider HotelsCombined. Even if just to keep your regular provider honest!

It is frustrating when you are booking a hotel through Wotif, and you see that bargain WOT hotel, but don’t know where or what it is. You have to take their word for it?

Not if you are looking at Sukhumvit, Bangkok!!

2010 - the years plan for Asian Itineraries.com

January 7th, 2010

Well, it is that time of year, where I have a look forward, and try to make some commitments for the year ahead. It is worthwhile to try and have some vision of where Asian Itineraries is going for 2010, although that is never easy when you are trying to develop and run a hobby business, while also living a “normal” life, with a job, a mortgage, bills, kids, pets, family, car breakdowns and thousands of other expences!
