Where Next?
As you travel through Thailand, you are guaranteed to experience friendly locals, always willing to help you with directions, questions, to serve you food, and sell you goods. You could easily believe that this is how everyone in Thailand is. However, in reality this is not the case, and it is worthwhile making an effort to get beyond the tourist areas, and experience a quick look at the 95% of the country that doesn't see and cater for tourists and foreigners.
A couple of other websites, that may be a useful reference, would include

In the rural and regional areas, you will find things are quite different. You find you can only smile at people, because no-one understands you, and simple farming and country people are fascinated by you and just smile at you for no real reason and when children are intrigued but afraid of you, you will understand these people a little differently.
Unfortunately, the conundrum is that finding your way to a remote rural area, and finding some ware to stay is not possible, when you cannot read the language or communicate with anyone, so without help, you cannot experience this. This is when a farmstay or country homestay service is extremely useful! You get some help getting to the unseen parts of the country, so you can then experience the real Thailand!
