Where to stay In Singapore
Follow This Itinerary here
There are many hotels in all of the main areas, and in all price brackets. However hotel rooms in Singapore are not cheap, and we have found walk up rates can be considerably more expensive than internet booking rates (often double or more). We recommend booking a hotel from home, before you leave, and the best way to do this is by using our multi service search engine on the left of this page. Usually the best value of all for Singapore room rates, is in the last week or so before your required date, as long as you have the internal fortitude to wait till a couple of days before you leave home!
When deciding where in Singapore to stay, first you should consider what you intend to do while you are there. For example, If you intend to shop, then consider staying in the Orchard Rd area. If you love the nightlife and restaurants perhaps the Clarke Quay and river side areas are a better option. If you want to see a lot of the country then finding somewhere in the central and colonial districts, within easy access to the MRT. If you love the Asian experience then stay in Chinatown.
Another good idea is that, before you leave the airport, you grab a couple of decent tourist maps of the island, as they all have good city layout maps, including MRT guides and station maps. At many areas within the terminal, you will see stands for maps and guides issued by the Singapore Tourist Board, and others. Singapore is not a difficult city to find your way around in and a simple tourist map should get you started well.
