Singapore tourist attractions
The two ethnic areas of Chinatown and Little India should both be visited, even if it is only to show the ethnic diversity, as well as the importance of the different nationalities that went into turning this virtually un-inhabited jungle into one of the world's busiest city's. Both these areas are distinct architecturally, and very interesting for a browse. Little India is best during the middle of the day, and Chinatown is a must at night (especially around Chinese New Year)
A little further from the city centre of Singapore, there are a couple of areas that should also be on the Singapore itinerary. The first of these is Sentosa Island.  Sentosa Island is five hundred meters or so off the coast of Singapore, and has a causeway to get access from the main island.  It does cost to get on the island, but a lot of activities are free once you get there. Probably the most interesting way to get onto Sentosa is via Cablecar. This runs from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island. Sentosa has a many attractions, that range from bushwalking, a beach made from completely imported sand, to volcano land, Underwater world and Fort Siloso. Also very popular, is a nightly laser light show, that should not to be missed.
Try a lunch at Boat Quay, looking across the Singapore river to the main commercial centre of Singapore, and follow it with a walk around the river, past the Fullerton hotel to the Merlion, and on to the Colonial district. And then, of course, a drink at the Raffles hotel. The hotel is a Singapore landmark, and a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar is a Singapore must for everyone.
