Because of the ferries, and the lack of cars on the island, and the lack of anywhere on Nusa Lembongan that you need to dress up for, we recommend you travel light. A backpack should be enough for a couple of days on Nusa Lembongan.
Arrival on Nusa Lembongan is at the town of Jungutbatu, the coastal seaweed-farming town on the sheltered west coast of the island. Here the ferry pulls pretty much up to the beach, and the sea surge is less, so you can usually manage your baggage better, and stay dry. A small crowd of locals will usually congregate here, offering accommodation and transport. As mentioned earlier, there are virtually no cars on the island, and all paid transport is on the back of a local's motorbike. However, all the accommodation, except for Mushroom bay, is located within walking distance of the ferry point, either to the left, at the end of the beach, where smallish resorts cascade down the headland, or to the right, where beach bungalow stile accommodation overlooks the beach and bay.
Tourist development, apart from accommodation, is almost non-existent, and hence this is the most relaxed and peaceful location on this itinerary. We think of Nusa Lembongan as an island getaway from the island getaway of Bali!
