Kalibukbuk
Kalibukbuk is the main town area that tourism have developed around, although the towns of Kaliasem, Anturan and Temukus all blend into the one strip along the main road, and all get referred to as Lovina Beach. The two things that will strike you first about the area, is, firstly, the beach - it as black sand, not white like the southern beaches. This is courtesy of the volcano we have come from, and the others in the Bali highlands, and the lava flows over the centuries that have run into the sea. The second is how much quieter and laid back the area is, compared with other beach towns.
This makes for a very peaceful and quite place, for less sales pressure and more genuine friendliness from the locals, and some great prices on hotel and resort rooms in the quieter times. Some services, like banks and moneychangers can even be a bit hard to find, as are convenience stores. All of these features add up to being a good thing not a bad one, and some real catch-up can be done in Lovina Beach.
Around the area, there are several areas of interest, including Git Git and Singsing waterfalls and Banjar Hot Springs, as well as Lovina's famous dolphin viewing boat tours.
