Recommended is Kuala Lumpur's china town area, as it really comes alive from sun down until about 11.00pm. We consider this the best bargain shopping on the tour, with a massive array of clothes, knockoff brand name products, DVD's, souvenirs, and just about everything else you could consider buying. We suggest you use Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown as the place to buy those gifts for the folks back home.
When siteseeing in Kuala Lumpur, some time needs to be spent in the Golden triangle area, KL's central business district. The Pretoria towers are in this area, and are a must, and if you don't have a problem with heights, you can take the lift to the skybridge that connects the two towers, almost 150 meters above the ground. This is free, although there can be long queues, so you can have to wait some time for your turn. It is recommended to get there early to avoid the wait.
A lot of people find Kuala Lumpur to be a too busy, noisy and humid, hot and smelly for them, and often choose not to stay for long, so we allow only a couple of nights in Kuala Lumpur, and then the itinerary continues on. This is the advantage to a trip where you are not bound to a fixed schedule. If you find the city fascinating, or get hooked on the shopping, you can stay as longer than you anticipated.
