The Cameron Highlands has evolved into Malaysia's primary tea production and processing area, and throughout the area there are many tea plantations, a couple of which can be toured. The Boa Tea company is one that is easy to find, and offers a guided tour of their factory and shop (predictably). It is well worth the visit, particularly as you will see them crushing and sorting the tea with machinery imported from England in the 1800's.
Also, the area is riddled with numerous market gardens, nurseries, strawberry farms, honey farms, butterfly farms and reptile farms. This is a good opportunity to visit and buy souvenirs or samples. Another highlight is that the area is renowned for the variety and number of walks and hikes within the area, and they are clearly laid out so the tourist wont get lost!
Several days of the Malaysian itinerary can easily be spent relaxing and exploring in the friendly, laid back and pleasantly cool Cameron Highlands.
