Getting a Taxi from the Airport to Downtown Bangkok
A real taxi should cost 300 - 400 Baht, inclusive of 50 Baht airport surcharge and most expressway tolls.
To find the actual taxi rank, you need to make your way past the limousine services, and find the elevator or lift to the lower level of the terminal, and exit the building at level one (arrivals is on level 2). Only then, once outside the terminal, will you find a small service desk in front of a row of taxis in the taxi rank. The operators of the booking desk will find out were you wish to go, and quote you a price.
You then pay them and they will advise the driver where you are going ( as most Thai taxi drivers don't speak little or no English). You can then jump in the taxi and sit back for the breakneck 20 Minute ride to the city (traffic permitting, as it can be three times as long as that). When you are booking at the taxi desk, make sure the fare includes tolls, so when the driver asks you for money at the tollbooths, you can politely decline. Be asured, they will ask!
